Annual membership entitles members to numerous opportunities that deepen one's understanding about Chado. The major benefits of membership are:
Seasonal tea gatherings mark special occasions in the tea world and celebrate each season in a way that is unique to Chado. Some gatherings are open to Washington DC Association members only.
Chado is comprised of numerous artistic and philosophical traditions which the Association explores through lectures, hands-on workshops, and discussion gatherings. For example, learn to make the kaiseki cuisine and a traditional sweet that are served at tea gatherings, or participate in a discussion about the historical development of Chado in Japan. Various programs occur throughout the year.

The tearoom attracts a variety of people, and the Urasenke Washington DC Association seeks to build a community of tea people that might not meet otherwise. Some Association programs are created with a casual atmosphere to give members a chance to get acquainted and make new friends.
